Trump chickens home to roost before the mid-terms
A recap as we head into 2026 which looks like being even worse than 2025: at least, judging by the noises emanating from the cornered beast across the Atlantic. Remember, UK, we gave up peace, prosperity & stability of a unified Eurasia to nail ourselves to a declining US hegemon that turned into the Death Star: a war machine dependent on Military Keynesianism.
It’s frustrating because so few were reading the signs until they were bitten on the bum. And even now the elephant dancing on the coffee-table must not be mentioned.
The sight of Europe, Asia & Russia working in harmony, uniting the Eurasia landmass in peaceful BRICS trade as we all emerged from America’s devastating 2008 crash, would have felt like a mortal threat to US elites intent on world domination. Appropriate to the third-rate movie villainy evidently inspiring them, the banality of evil pursues such depressingly mundane ambitions. “Crush, kill, destroy, feed me!” might well be their mantra. Mistaking them for adults, China’s ambassador to America, Cui Tankai, did invite them to join the BRICS party but, like spoilt toddlers, they wanted it all.
This is what our leaders have signed us up for and where they are chucking our public money, even as our economy fails.
Obama, the Clintons, Trump and fresh American hell
America’s protection by oceans on two sides was also its prison, separating it from the stabilising Eurasia landmass. Eurasian consolidation had to be stopped. The US-backed Brexit, Ukraine coup and far right would do that.
China may have saved US capitalism and the global economy from America’s Great Financial Crash of 2008 but no good deed goes unpunished in Bizarro World. Obama, fresh from being caught out sticking it to the poorest nations at the 2009 COP15 climate change summit, bit the hand that fed with his 2010/11 Pivot to Asia and Hillary Clinton’s Western Pacific and Central Asia manifesto, America’s Pacific Century.
Just as her husband, President Bill Clinton had broken 1991 promises not to expand NATO eastwards and broke up Yugoslavia in 1999, Hillary was now dragging the world into fresh American hell.
Then Trump arrived, upsetting plans (sort of) by prematurely directing hostilities towards China when the Democrats wanted to finish off Russia, big LOL. There was a moment when we heaved a collective sigh of relief that Hillary hadn’t won the 2016 presidency and started World War III. However, fully loaded and half-cocked, Trump and his gang that couldn’t shoot straight completely blew the world’s escape from the US crash with his trade war on our global lifeboat and growth engine.
Trump hosts the horror-show
I was so struck by the horror-show shaping up that I wrote about it at the time. Here are a couple of articles that bucked the mainstream.
2016: Trump’s protectionism could be midwife to prosperous Asian region — if he doesn’t nuke it first.
2018: What was Trump’s Trade War REALLY about?
I managed to slip a warning into my last ever article for the Guardian on the 4th May 2018. Even the synchronicity of the date was yelling something was up; more than simply, “you’ll never write for the liberal media again with that attitude”.
With President Trump and his acolytes pumping up yellow peril fears around China, and his trade wars threatening to slip into hot wars, the last thing we need is this trivialised pastiche of serious debate. Minorities have precious little ammunition with which to challenge tribal juggernauts. Don’t waste what little cultural and political firepower we have.
Wilfully blind
The media didn’t want to upset our ally and “daddy” (Mark Rutte, head of NATO) and defied the laws of physics with how speedily they fell into line. It’s amazing how seemingly intelligent people will ignore what’s snarling in front of them in the hope it’s someone’s else’s throat that gets ripped out. In this case: China’s. So then came the NED-backed Hong Kong riots and dodgy reporting, which y’all should know about by now.
And then the pandemic, which Trump couldn’t keep in his pants, as we saw from that series of excitable “covfefe” tweets – see the Covid Timeline.
The origins of the Covid pandemic were never fully investigated and our media weren’t curious at all. For example, antigens in the Red Cross blood samples taken across America December 2019 -Jan 2020 indicated infection from August. Test results of the earlier samples were never made public. You’d think the sleuths in the Fourth Estate would chase that one down, but no. They still can’t decide whether the virus is airborne or droplets.
A Short Timeline of the Ukraine in US crosshairs
So my understanding of America’s involvement in a short timeline of key events would be:
1991: USSR falls. NATO promises – “Not an inch eastwards” . Yet America continues its unipolar ambitions. The Bush clan, including Cheney and Wolfowitz, immediately target Ukraine. NATO begins hoovering up former USSR states. A carve-up of a defeated Russia and its resources is on the cards.
Later, George Kennan says of NATO expansion 1998: “I think it is a tragic mistake. There was no reason for this whatsoever. No one was threatening anybody else.”
1992: The Wolfowitz Doctrine: “Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union.”
1999: Clinton/NATO illegally bombs Yugoslavia and divides it into manageable pieces. Slaps China into line by bombing their embassy.
2002: NATO Conference, Wolfowitz tears up promise not to expand. (See Shakedown Timeline September 2002.)
2013: Growing pressure on Ukraine to submit to IMF demands and smash open its energy and agricultural economy to western interests. Turns to Russia which makes no such demands.
2014: The American-backed Maidan coup (February) is resisted by the east of the country, majority Russian speakers or culturally identified with Russia.
Resulting referendum in Crimea (March) – which includes Sevastopol, the major base of the Russian fleet – votes to go with Russia. The vote is declared illegal by Obama and EU. The BBC: “Some 58% of people in Crimea are ethnic Russian, with the rest made up of Ukrainians and Tatars.” Resistance is savagely attacked, civilians are bombed.
2020-2022 Biden-backed Kiev “ultranationalists” step up aggression against ethnic Russian civilians in eastern Ukraine from Donbass to Odessa. Russia sends in the military. Biden sends in Boris Johnson to keep the war going and reject the agreed Minsk peace plan which would have kept Ukraine neutral and intact.
THE PRESENT: Russia is winning the war. Trump is pulled in several directions: Europe and neocons like Lindsey Graham want to keep shovelling money at the “golden toilet” abyss of an unwinnable war. Trump wants to focus on China which he’s just placed within reach of 420 ATACMS missiles and HIMARS launch systems he’s sending to “the Republic of China” on ‘Taiwan island”. Ukraine is shrinking and will be lucky if it keeps any of its Black Sea coast.
Meanwhile, Venezuela, Latin America, Greenland, Iran, Somalia, Nigeria, and Trump Tower on Gaza Beach are vying for attention.
Beyond grandiose, all hail the mad king
The human wrecking ball in the White House continues to cut a swathe of destruction through everything he touches. Even his own turf becomes the metaphor to beat all metaphors with the demolition of the historic East Wing to make way for the Trump erection with which he intends to dwarf what’s left of the White House.
The gold ballroom conveniently sits on top of the nuclear bunker complex we assume is being beefed up to make the president bravely impregnable as he inflicts suffering all around him. Fortress Bone-Spurs is especially necessary now as Kiev just moved the bar by sending 90 drones to Putin’s home. But we don’t need no steenkin’ red missile retaliation to pulverise the centre of American power. Trump is doing that all by himself. The huge steel-fibre enforced concrete-pour (and what’s intended to sit on top of it) is so dense and heavy that it could bring down the remaining White House. Yet another perfect metaphor and more proof that we’re trapped inside that science fiction writer’s coma dream I told you about.
Happy New Year, dear readers. Hope to see you all for the next one.
