Emperor Trump in the Twilight Zone’s gladiator arena

Trump thumbs up or down for China?

A frustrated Trump, seething from Taco insults and his incompetence on show, steps up scapegoating China. New game on – let’s kick over China’s sandcastles in The Twilight Zone.

In the past few days Trump and his minions have raged at China for:

1) Not reining in North Korea from Ukraine. France’s President Emmanuel Macron showboated this demand despite knowing this is neither China’s responsibility nor within its power. Sensing the way the wind’s blowing, he’s fanning those China war flames for Trump’s delectation with threats of expanding NATO into Asia.

It’s a real belly crawl to the alpha. Macron is fully aware that Ukraine has been Biden’s mess ever since he was VP in 2013 and pressed the US “f*ck the EU” land-grab and proxy war plan against Russia. Not China’s who sticks to its non-interference policy like Loctite. Still, Macron’s Rafale jets were just downed by China’s J-10 in Pakistan so he, too, has a point to make and an ego to protect.

2) Supposedly violating the tariff truce – but Trump can’t provide an example or evidence. Fury with the court judgment against his capricious tariffs explodes until an appeal court sticks a stay pacifier in place and allows the tariffs to remain for the foreseeable.

3) Declining to hand over their rare earths. Well, with a gun at their heads, I should think not.

4) Defending itself against aggressive, provocative American military arming of Taiwan (Republic of China), including US military on Kinmen island on the coast right next to the city of Xiamen. Imagine Russian troops on Long Island or Canvey in the Thames. Or China arming secessionists in California, Texas or Scotland.

Funny how the Republic of China’s One-China status and US track record of arming it to the teeth is always omitted from reports. Defence Secretary Hegseth goes grrrr. This isn’t a drunken video game, Pete.

We’ve been brainwashed to accept “rules-based order.” Whose rules? And what happened to the rule of international law? How ironic that Taiwan also rejects the Hague ruling on the South China Sea, and the US isn’t even signed up to UNCLOS.

5) Panama paranoia still present

6) Lurid Covid claims continue when actually … see Covid Timeline

Watching so many leaders and hangers-on either terrified of Trump’s power or hoping to get a taste of it themselves, I am reminded of the story, It’s a Good Life by Jerome Bixby, about a boy, Anthony Freemont, who possesses total power over material reality and has no conscience. As seen in The Twilight Zone original series, the movie and the White House.

If only you had one neck I’d throw you all under the bus

Trump needs a victory and this morally bankrupt president wants a war on the stable, successful, wealthy superpower which has caught up with the US. Any old made-up excuse will do.

It’s all showbiz for some very ugly inadequates. We see him bending under renewed pressure from advisers like Lyndsey Graham, who can’t get enough blood shed, and Ukraine war negotiator, General Kellogg, who is evidently in the war prolongation camp; both of whom are calling for sanctions and a ceasefire instead of an outright end to the conflict. Trump throwing a bone of “Putin crazy” to his advisers just doesn’t win him the love he craves.

The president may be transitioning into his “If they can’t love me, let them fear me” stage, echoing Caligula in the tyrant stakes — although his spoilt toddler tantrums place him closer in character to Commodus. The whole attack on China is very thumbs-down in the gladiator arena by the Emperor with no clothes. (Yes, I know, thumbs-up was actually the killer stroke but I doubt our orange overlord would know this.)

Trump’s sudden threat to increase steel tariffs to 50 percent, which would clobber the UK and EU, buys him leverage. If they cave in and ratchet up aggression against China, they’re too stupid and cowardly to do what’s best for themselves and their own people. Again. Take a cue from Netherlands AMSL who just stood up to the blackmail and continues to trade with China.

Disappointingly but totally lacking in surprise, instead of of continuing to consolidate trade via Belt & Road and uniting the whole of the Eurasia landmass peacefully towards a prosperous future, as they were doing up to 2018, Macron is leading the cowardly capitulation and threatening 1.4 billion human beings who’ve never done the West any harm.

On the contrary, our wealth, development and industrial revolutions were financed in large part by looting China. And India. And Africa. And the Americas.

Hope lies in the Eurasia landmass

Never forget how stable the world was in 2018 with the global economy emerging in sync from America’s devastating Great Crash of 2008.

We were saved from meltdown directly by China’s great heft and intervention: it bought up massive US debt, allowed global currencies to devalue against the yuan, stimulated via consumption and infrastructure building, and started the longest bull-run in US markets ever. A bull-run from which Trump and his acolytes profited mightily.

America set out to stop the stabilising unity of Europe and Asia in its tracks. And our leaders were too stupid to protect themselves or us or world peace.

What an utter shower we have driving the clown car.

It’s A Good Life — hey, is that Donald Trump?
